Injunction

« Back to Glossary Index

an injunction is a court order that requires a person or entity to either do something specific or refrain from doing a particular action. Injunctions are a powerful legal remedy that can be sought in various situations to prevent harm, maintain the status quo, or enforce legal rights.

Injunctions are usually granted on an interim or temporary basis, known as an interim injunction or interlocutory injunction, until the main legal proceedings are concluded. In some cases, a permanent injunction may be issued as a final order after a full trial or hearing on the merits.
