Examinations for discovery are an important part of the pre-trial process in civil litigation. It is a procedure where parties to a lawsuit have the opportunity to examine the opposing parties and certain non-party witnesses under oath, with the purpose of obtaining information and evidence relevant to the case.
By examining the witnesses under oath, parties can obtain evidence about the underlying issues in the litigation and evaluate the witness’ credibility and strength/weaknesses of their testimony.
